What is C.O.P.E.?

C.O.P.E stands for Citizens Organized to Prepare for Emergencies

“Winner of the California League of Cities Helen Putnam Award for Excellence.

COPE was started by residents of the Santa Rosa community of Oakmont, in cooperation with the Santa Rosa Fire Department and American Red Cross. The COPE Leaders in Oakmont, Sue Hattendorf and Al Thomas, now have over 70% of their 2,800 households in the COPE Neighborhood Preparedness Program.

The mission of COPE is to help residents, families, and neighborhoods become and remain better prepared to respond to and recover from emergency situations. This includes developing individual response plans, maintaining individual emergency supply kits, and outreaching to neighborhoods in the community.”

SLP is committed to helping you and your family get organized, be prepared, and stay informed

This video is one of the most important and worth while projects we have had an opportunity to be a part of. In too many disaster programs, the Deaf Community has been overlooked and we at SLP feel that this it too significant of a message for anyone to miss.

This COPE program is so valuable that it has been adopted by cities across the US and we are thrilled to finally have the opportunity to present it in Sign Language.
